The Rev. Tom Gartin

Priest in Charge


Rev. Tom was called as Priest-in-Charge to Faith Church in August, 2020. He has an M.Div. from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. His background includes experience in hospital chaplaincy through the Emory Healthcare system, special education through the Roseville Joint Union High School District. Rev. Tom has served in several different parishes both in the Diocese of Northern California and in the Diocese of Atlanta. After ordination in 2018, he served as Assistant Rector and later Interim Pastor at St. Augustine in Rocklin until being called to Faith.

Rev. Tom grew up in Rocklin, California as a member of a large evangelical church before finding a spiritual home in the sacramental tradition and the inclusive spiritual practices of the Episcopal Church of the United States. He lives in Roseville, California with his cat, Sierra, and enjoys going wine tasting, listening to podcasts while taking long meandering walks, and playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends.


The Rev. Sonya Reichel

Assistant Rector

Rev. Sonya was called as Assistant Rector to Faith Church in January, 2018. She has served at a number of churches in the Diocese of Northern California, including St. Francis in Fair Oaks, St. Michael’s in Carmichael, and Trinity Cathedral in Sacramento. She has an M.A. in Ministry from Nashotah House Theological Seminary in Wisconsin, an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco, and an M.A. in Mathematics from CSU, Sacramento. Rev. Sonya is a math professor at American River College and has taught in the Los Rios Community College District for over 25 years.

Rev. Sonya has also worked as a chaplain at a Level 1 trauma center, acute psychiatric hospital, hospice, and medical center in Sacramento, along with interning as a Marriage & Family Therapist at Catholic Social Services in Sacramento. Rev. Sonya lives in Fair Oaks with her wife Katrina and their 5 furry companions (3 dogs, 2 cats). They enjoy hiking, kayaking, and just about any excuse to play in the water.
