How Do I Become a Member?
First, welcome! We’d love for you to join Faith Church. Some practical steps and contacts are listed below.
And we’d love to tell you a little more about what membership in the Church consists of.
Baptism. All people who have been baptized with water in the name of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) are Christians and members of Christ’s Church throughout the world and through the generations. If you have not yet been baptized, please contact Rev. Tom to make arrangements.
Episcopalian. If you were baptized in an Episcopal congregation then in addition to becoming part of the worldwide Church, you were also made part of The Episcopal Church and became an Episcopalian.
Baptismal Record. You remain a member of the congregation where you were baptized until you request for your baptismal record to be transferred. If you would like to have your baptism transferred to Faith, just complete the form linked below and we’ll take care of the rest.
Confirmation. All baptized members are encouraged to receive the sacrament of Confirmation, in which a Christian makes a mature commitment to Christ and receives strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.
Reception. If you were already confirmed in The Episcopal Church, just let us know. If you were confirmed or made some other form of mature commitment to Christ in another tradition, you can be received by a bishop to become an Episcopalian.
Ministry. All Christians share in a call to be part of Christ’s ministry in the world. Lay and ordained alike, we are all living members of Christ’s body, equipped to serve according to our diverse gifts.
Coming Together. Being part of a congregation means joining with others to mutually encourage, support, and collaborate in God’s mission together. A congregation is supported and shaped entirely through the efforts and gifts of its members. When even one person joins, it transforms into something new, so we are excited to invite you into what God is doing amongst us.
We hope this answers some of your questions, and we hope you’ll let us know what else we can do to help you become part of the congregation here at Faith!
